17th tactical missile squadron, was deployed on Taiwan in 1957 mainly to have some missile units in range of China. In 1958 inactivated, the missiles transferred to reactivated 868th tactical missile squadron. In 1962 the squadron was inactivated and replaced with 498th Tactical Missile Group on Okinawa, which operated longer range MGM-13 Mace cruise missiles.
