US Fighter Projects: model kits

Speaking for myself....

NAA NA 335 (FX submission)
Republic FX Submission
Northrop N176 LRI

cheers

Duncan

For me please !!!!

Northrop N.167 (page 104)
North American NA-323 (page 171) + NA-335 (page 180/181)
Grumman G-623 (page 202)

Deino

For me:

Chance Vought V-371 Interceptor (page 57)

Northrop N-144 Long Range Interceptor ( the underbelly view of the model on page 89 is simply breathtaking)

North American Rockwell NR-349 with full missile load (page 183)

FYI, my own preferences include:
XP-79Z (p. 19)
V-371 (p. 57)
NR-349 (p. 183)

However, my votes on this matter are somewhat dubious. Espcially considering that I've *already* started one of these, and a few other from the book that I didn't list above.

Try asking on what if modelers forum?

I could say, but as I never buy kits it wouldn't be helpful.

WS.300A
N-167
NR-349 / Convair Model 200 VTOL

I get the impression this is more to give Scott an idea of which people find the most interesting rather than looking for commitments to purchase models. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Convair 200 VTOL
LTV507
NA 202A
NA 303A

(The last two were the ones lined up for the cover so would be ideal to complement the book)

Alternative ideas Scott might be to look at conversions to do the project ones:-
F-111B, Retaliator, VG Toom, Naval F-16, etc

May be easier to do as can rely on kit details, cheaper and may appeal more to modellers

Cheers

Geoff

(BTW i think a number of people are actually getting the book for Chrimbo, so wait for thier input ;D)

Well, I don't have the book yet! I know I want a Republic AP-75, though. ;D

Well, I don't have the book, either, and some of the projects I'm thinking of aren't exactly American, but here's what I've been dreaming of in 1/72 for ages:
MiG 1.42(the revised version of the 1.44 made into a model by Zvezda)
MiG-31M
MiG 1.27
SE 2415 Grognard II
Yak MFI
Shin-Shin
Skyblade Stealth
KFX-1
BAE Replica
ADDAX-S
Lockheed Rockwell A/F-X
North American Rockwell F-X
Shafaq
DASA TDEFS
Hawker P.1214
MiG-23PD
A nice model of Haunebu II with more detail and accuracy than offered by Unicraft or Bird Model, wouldn't hurt either.

I am in the same boat as Overscan - I don't do models (I can assemble them - but its the painting that makes them!)
But I would be interested in seeing the following
I've got my books packed away but from what I can remember -

Northrop N-102 Fang
Fairchild-Republic FX (F-15)
Boeing Model 818 TFX
Northrop N-126/144 Delta Scorpion

Plus (not in the book from memory!)
Vought X-100 VFAX
Vought V-523
Vought V-484 for VFAX
Convair 200A
Grumman Model 607A
LTV V-517
Douglas F6D Missileer
Vought V-434 Missileer

Pioneer

I don't have the book handy either, but all of the F-14 & F-15 competitors, If the Vought V-371 is the Mach 3 a/c with the belly intake, & I think it is, I'd go for one of them. The F-106X, if it's in there would work. Maybe the USAF version of the A-5. Some variations of the SR-71/YF-12. Some of the Missileer proposals. Too bad I don't have the book handy.......
