Unclear Thread References

I've repeatedly noticed over the past weeks that references to specific posts in a thread may just lead to some random adjacent messages in the thread, but not the specific target itself.

It would only potentially occur on a topic with embedded media, where it scrolls to the right place momentarily then the embedded media resizes the page which has the side effect of moving your position. This has always happened.

I've noticed the same - usually on long threads. It probably is due to the annoying resizing of embedded stuff.

Yes the only fix would be to completely remove the ability to embed external media.

An problem, too, for handling reports. If there would be the post number, that would often be helpful !

I didn't claim that it was a recent issue .

It can be annoying when the topic consists of mostly links to Twitter, YouTube, etc., especially on iOS. You land a fair number of replies back and need to scroll ahead to reach the new reply you're interested in. This seems like kind of a bug, in that the developers should be able to anchor the browser at the desired reply and let the media load without interrupting what the user sees.
