Type 26 and 31

Still confused about about why they would pay to integrate this missile with two different types of VLS when they could have just put Sylver in the T26. Possibly FC/ASW is actually meant to fire from deck-mounted box launchers? But if so, what the heck is the Mk 41 for?

I'd presume they want the option to sell it to both Sylver and Mk41 customers, and while France will insist on Sylver there's more Mk41 customers out there. Though that still leaves the question of why they'd go Mk 41 in Type 26 unanswered, unless there's something else that only fits in Mk41 that the RN has its eye on.
Anecdotally, they'd love to have VL-ASROC if they could make the cash work.

Makes sense, and Type 26 is supposed to be an ASW specialist hull with added land-attack, rather than vice versa.

And thinking about it, putting FC/ASW in Mk41 on Type 26 makes a very good visual case for selling it to Canada and Australia on their Type 26 derivatives.

Type 26 will have 24 Mk 41 & 24 (not 48) launchers for CAMM - & only CAMM.

Is there an official source for the number of CAMM cells on the Type 26? I can't find one, but the unofficial sources I see all say 48 missiles, and the models show two nests of 24 CAMM VLS, one forward of the bridge and Mk 41 nest and a second midships, just aft of the main stack.
Frustratingly, I can't find the source for that. Sorry. I've seen the two sets of 24 pictures, but IIRC not long ago I was informed (but for the life of me can't remember who by) that it had been changed, presumably on cost grounds.

There was talk of CAMM in ExLS for the RN (as, I think, the RCN will have), or a new CAMM-specific launcher, but now we have pictures (but again, not official - though see this https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news-and-latest-activity/news/2021/july/06/20210706-sea-ceptor) of a mushroom farm on Type 45, to add to those of T31.

I think I'd best wait until we get something indisputably official.
