Trying to create the cause behind Space Force going from Air Force culture to Naval culture in the future

"Tender" is more accurate than "carrier" here, as in Destroyer Tender or Submarine Tender.
Parasite carrier is the popularized term. Dunno when this happened.
Likewise we got parasite craft/ship depending on size.
Possibly. So we'd need to get creative with food stores. Likely hardtack instead of raw flour, for example. I'm also assuming hydro and/or aeroponics used as both additional oxygen generation, food, and "green space therapy" for crew sanity.

Depends on just how mighty the torch drives are. A drive that makes 0.1m/s/s can push you from Earth to Mars in 35 days. Just a reminder, that's only 1/100 of a gee.
That's a delta v of 302400 m/s !! and for one way at that.

Also note the inner planet area is very dirty aka dense with "dust" and naturally protons etc. from the sun.
At 0.000504 c it's not too dangerous but in time something will hit hart. The armor / radiation protection shouldn't be lacking nor underestimated on their weight. I prefer mainly water combined with metal and composite mixed layers and or any combination thereof.

I must not be reading the right stories, because I don't remember reading "parasite carrier" much before.

Yep, a centigee drive is rather terrifying. Blasting hot hydrogen out the back at ludicrous speeds.

Oh, yeah, I've been assuming a good 20cm of water, in addition to borated hydrocarbons etc. 2.5 tenth-value hull shielding, and likely 5 tenth-value shielding for the storm cellars.

We're already talking big hecking ships, some 62,500m3 pressurized volume for a small ship, crew of ~125.
