President Trump and the Pentagon are considering creating a full-time “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” that could be called on to quash civil unrest and protest at a moment’s notice, according to internal documents reviewed by The Washington Post.

The force would be made up of about 600 National Guards troops, half of which would be based on military bases in Alabama and Arizona, ready at all times to fly into any given city or state to lay down Trump’s law. They’d have military-style weapons and riot gear, would dispatch from their bases in waves of 100 soldiers, and would cycle out after 90 days to “limit burnout.”

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Well, as any other idea, the special mobile police force have its merits and its flaws. Merits are obvious; they could be moved quickly into disturbance area, before riots escalate into outright damage, destruction or loss of life (and since mobile police is federal, not local, it would not be much concerned about local authorities opinion). Flaws are also obvious; such force could easily be misused to quell the meeting of ones federal government didn't particularly like.

Lets not and say we did, eh?

It would be unwise to equip the executive branch wifh a legal and ethical stick of dynomite. These kinds of powerful tools inevitably get used against political dissidents and opposition groups. That kind of crap is unamerican.

That's an age-old question, what exactly is more important for efficient society: freedom, or safety? Problem is, that most peoples assumed that there are only two opposite extremes on this scale. While in reality, there is neither such things as "perfectly free" or "perfectly safe" society. Moreover, the relative importance of each could easily change with technology development. At some points relatively more free societies are more efficient; at some points, the opposite.
