I have the feeling that it might be from a novelty Tarot set. There are quite a few out there. It has the detail and odd juxtapositions of allegory.

This bugged me so I have to say: too bad the years don't match very well. First row of paintings is from 1881, 1909 and 1905 respectively. During WW2, those were antiques. They were appreciated even way before WW1. Altough two of the other pictures are modern, the middle one is from 1922, and the first one is more or less imitation of cubism, also from around WW1. This carefully ignores all that cubist, expresionist and surrealist stuff that was all the rage before WW2.
The last one is simply crap.

Photography killed the art of painting, then advertising multiplied by a hundred million the amount of colored surfaces that people could see... and it turned out that there was not enough art to fill them all, it was necessary to fill them with garbage and create a social environment that qualified as uncultured people who were told that the king is naked ... pure cynicism.

Then the percussion killed the melody because it generated greater consumption of drinks, rap killed the good singers, because it was necessary to fill an increasing void and there was no time to train good professionals of anything.

Intelligent and creative people dedicated themselves to other activities and only the worst of each class remained, a product that is impossible to sell, but that can be published for free in the form of propaganda and brainwashing... as long as some international organisation can afford it. And that's what's happening with cinema as well.

It's inevitable that if we find something utterly terrifying, we try to make cuddly versions of it.

Hence, The Alien Next Door by Joey Spiotto.

Cathedrals, being very old, need restoration. That doesn't mean that the artisans restoring those cathedrals are going to restrict themselves to historical veracity.
