This is hilariously funny...

some exciting new development in the field of diversifying the legal system to incorporate honor killings and acid attacks or something...
Really?! Given the sickness of those who commit such atrocities and the impact on their victims, I hardly think that is worthy of a thread titled "This is hilariously funny...".

Corrected the silly thing... my own way.

My point still stands. Beware of "D'Orcel" shops. Even if France, they pronounce the same.

Julien d'Orcel is selling jewelry

Marc Dorcel, being named after a former pornstar, sells sexual objects of every kind.
Something gold plated could come from either...;)

Got to love the responses:

Ignore of course the idiots such as Craig Kelly. He is a oxygen thief who spends his time promoting wild conspiracy theories and sending out SPAM.

Some people never miss an opportunity to make fools of themselves in the most self-righteous way possible.

Wait until a non-billionaire discovers New Zealand. We've had even fewer die here (per capita as well as absolute), so we must be really desperate to be saved by the tinfoil hat brigade.

Saw a funny comment the other day: "If you know how much ammunition you have, you don't have enough."

Related to spaceflight. Not particularly funny, make no mistake. Rather a truly maddening irony.

You know, like that Dinosaur cartoon where two dinosaurs watch the sky and one says "hey ! a shooting star ! That's a good omen ! Make a wish !"
And the other says
"Nah, no need for magic thinking. I'm confident: we rule the world since 200 million years and our future is safe."
(the shooting star being, obviously, the Yucatan meteor killer coming to incinerate them)

Blog entry by the excellent Mr Portree.

Short story: NASA manned spaceflight "boss" George Mueller and AAP manager Charles Mathews gave a big press conference at NASA HQ, Washington, to disclose a brilliant future in space: the Apollo Applications Program.

During the conference, George Mueller said two things (among others)

"Assuming that everything goes perfectly well in the Apollo Program"

"...sure that we will use liberal amounts of velcro."

Waaaait a minute... Apollo... velcro... AAP... if everything goes perfectly well... does that rings a bell ?

I will provide a clue. The day that AAP press conference happened.

January 26, 1967

We all know what happened exactly 24 hours later, down at Cape Kennedy.

Dear. Gosh.

Talk about an unhappy choice of words. I wonder if Mueller realized it - or some of the reporters present that day.

Drats, he also casually said this

He explained that experiment packages scheduled specifically for the AAP-1/AAP-2 mission would, among other things, aim to
...
"find out what happens to the flammability of materials, how they actually burn when you have a combination of oxygen and nitrogen and zero gravity."
