Disappointing to see another UK procurement program into a train wreck.

And this one was comparatively simple and almost impossible to mess up… yet somehow MoD and Babcock managed to do just that.

The only way to fix this pattern would be to adopt a continuous build program with manageable incremental evolution starting from a proven platform… ie. CCV or a T31 based AAW variant. Expect MoD to do just the opposite and throw away all the hard earned experience just when things start running smoothly.

The effects of dithering by previous UK governments up to this point has really squashed the capability for nation and their prime contractors to design and build ships.

They do have a programme to continuously build ships but it will take decades to right itself. With the continuing pattern to defer and spend less on defence, it looks more and more like they will continue to fail.
