Wonders you can do with a thick wing - fit a large crew for example!
 
Nah... they can't get so many folks to sit a ludicrously expensive, specially-radar-absorbant-coated, all-composite wing the way they used to with good old polished steel!!!
 
Or, intead of polished steel (too heavy), how about the polished aluminum it was actually made from.
 
:eek: You're right! The words "polished steel" came together quite naturally, but I didn't really think about what I was writing there! Steel wouldn't be too clever for an aircraft, especially that big! Thanks for showing what a moron I can be at times (especially when I lack in sleeping time...)

Thin, very thin stainless steel honeycomb sandwich skin will work (look at the XB-70).
