From Textron reveal video (
View: https://youtu.be/Ij5X9K21j3s?si=X8MWDsOgAvU93lMm
) and information brochure (https://www.textronsystems.com/capa...olution-expeditionary-warfare-logistics-secat)
Length OA: 252 feet (~77 meters)
Beam: 82 feet (25 meters)
Draft: 4.5 feet (1.4m), presumably running surface effect fans
Has a 100 foot (30m) ramp able to opperate on a 1:40 beach slope according to video
Speed is 50 knots maximum for up to 500nmi in Sea State 4
Range is 3,400 nmi at 20 knots (roughly the distance from Guam to Taiwan and back)
Cargo capacity is 600 tons with 8,800 square feet of usable deck area but they list that for the 50 knots to 500nmi it's 500 tons, alternative load of 800 marines if configured for troop transport.
Armament: 1x 30mm, small arms. They show a MANTIS/Skyshield esque mount for the 30mm but I would expect a more standard 30mm mount as seen on current USN warships. Still, decent armament for C-UAS and C-USV purposes.
Hullform seems analogous to Skjold Class and other surface effect ships. One of the graphics shows hard bow and stern walls and an odd baffle in the middle but I would attribute this more to artistic licence over actual substance since every other graphic shows rubber bow and stern skirts.
VERTREP capable and they show it downloading vehicles from a Large/Medium RoRo vessel at sea from the stern. Textron claims this can be done at up to Sea State 5 using active stabilization.
Some Comments:
The overall design seems to be aimed at correcting the shortcomings of the Expeditionary Fast Transport. It doesn't need a quay to unload, has the same cargo load, if at under half the deck space, slightly longer range (3,000+ versus about 2,000 nmi at 20 knots), and can operate at high speeds in rough seas (the EPFs are limited to 15 knots at Sea State 4 compared to 50 of the SECAT).
Additionally the capability to act as a major Ship-to-Shore connector directly from RoRos would eliminate a major use case for the Expeditionary Transfer Docks which download the vehicles then transfer them to LCACs or other landing craft and its long range makes such operations far safer for the comparatively vulnerable RoRos.
