The Hürkuş program dates back to the early 2000s, when Turkey embarked on the development of an indigenous trainer aircraft. The aircraft is named after Vecihi Hürkuş, one of the pioneers of Turkish aviation and a prominent figure in the country's early aviation history.
The first prototype took to the skies in 2013, marking an important step for Turkey's domestic aerospace ambitions. Since then, the platform has undergone continuous development and refinement.
The original Hürkuş family consisted of three primary variants:

Hürkuş-II
Building on the experience gained from the earlier models, Turkish Aerospace introduced the Hürkuş-II.
The new variant features improvements in performance, avionics, pilot ergonomics, maintainability, and operational flexibility, incorporating lessons learned from previous versions and user feedback. With these enhancements, Turkish Aerospace aims to position the Hürkuş-II as a competitive offering in the global trainer aircraft market alongside established platforms such as the Pilatus PC-21 and the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II.
