Stark 201

Hi all,

never seen or heard before, the german Stark 201 from 1960. Two seats and two powerplants (Stamo 1400B/V 50HP). Never built.

Thanks for the photo, there's no in R.Wurster "Deutsche Motorflugzeuge", but some data:
Developed 1959, powered by Stamo-1400-B/V engines with 50 hp each. Span 10.50 m, length 8.15 m,
height 2.40 m, MTOW 841 kg, empty weight 475 kg, max speed 325 km/h, range 1.100 km,

50 hp engines? Seriously?

100 hp total should have been adequate, if they achieved the target weights. That would have been difficult with 1950s metal airframe technology. Maybe that is why we haven't heard anything since.

A comparison of max weights of small twins:

Stark 201: 2 seats, 841 kg target (? airframe, 100 hp total, 8.4 kg/hp)
Wing Derringer: 2 seats, 952 kg (metal airframe, 320 hp total)
DA42: 4 seats, 1252 kg (composite airframe, 336 hp total)

some single engine low power airplanes:

DV20, 80 hp, about 750 kg (9.4 kg / hp)
Cessna 140, 85 hp, 658 kg (7.7 kg / hp)

From the mentioned book by Rolf Wurster:
The company Stark Flugzeugbau Minden developed this design in 1959. The wing (NACA 23
airfoil) should be built from wood, the fuselage from metal tubing covered with GFK (glass fibre
plastics). Problems were foreseen for single engined handling. The aimed market price were
32,000 ,- DM, but the projects failed due to problems with funding.
