Small UAS / Drones and related general thread - NOT Swarming ones.

How many different venders are there for the LASSO program? This makes at least two munitions picked for the requirement, and I feel like I’m forgetting a third.

Interesting report on near slavery situation with African workers in Russian drone factory:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cdrzdpre058o
(the report contains first hand information on the Ukrainian drone strike that made blasted the factory then)

Interesting to see how the iRobot industry has developed a taste for old fashion slavery... Just to be met by the long standing British press!

I am told Orwell commented with a LoL emoji.

Always have to take this with a grain of salt .British MSM needs to fill a daily quota of Russia bad stories

As report noted Ukrainians struck the dormitory not the factory itself.

As for near slavery , migrant worker story 101 , and in many reports MSM deceptively claim they were imported for housekeeping and restaurant work ,even the Sudanese add is for broad range of jobs.

''We spoke to another woman on the programme who did not want to be named for fear of reprisals on social media. She says she had a more positive experience at Alabuga. (Reprisals on social media? Where in South Sudan? Brit MSM )

"To be honest every company has rules. How can they pay you your full salary if you miss work, or don't perform well? Everything is logical, no-one is subjected to what they do not want. Most of the girls who end up leaving missed work and didn't follow the rules. Alabuga doesn't hold anyone hostage, you can leave at any time," the unnamed woman told the BBC.''

But Adau says working for Russia's war machine was devastating.

"It felt terrible. There was a time when I got back to my hostel and I cried. I thought to myself: 'I can't believe this is what I'm doing now.' It felt horrible having a hand in constructing something that is taking so many lives."

As for skin peeling , i work in composites for near 3 decades. Epoxy used in drone construction is a irritant , and some folks build an intolerance, in some it builds over time like decades in some it starts on day one , i have built mine to a degree that i need full protection and cold wash afterwards to prevent a rash .That is extremely hard to protect against some have a much harder reaction like breathing issues that makes it 100% impossibly to work in any kind of production with epoxy

Just some insight from where these workers come on how hard it would be for them to not be in a much better job in Albatros drone factory.

Well, that's not really true anymore. Autonomy software, what's generally branded as AI, will break this paradigm at one time or another. it all depends on how soon.
(and let's not discard quantic)

''This is a domestic model of a pulsating air-jet type, created entirely from Ukrainian components.'' Bahhaha a pulsejet , so a pipe with no moving parts ,made entirely of Ukrainian components ,sure hope so........ but i would bet money that sparkplug and fuel pump are not Ukrainian and like sheet metal its made of probably all Chinese as well. Peremoga ... NAFO FELLA

There's nothing bad about something being mechanically simple and cheap. But yes, highlighting "created entirely from Ukrainian components" in that context is a bit silly.

NAVSEA is looking for maritime precision strike loitering drones for SOCOM:

USSOCOM intends to identify viable prototype systems for development, testing, evaluation and integration with SOCOM Combatant Craft to meet Maritime Launched Effects - Increment 1 (MLE-1) requirements.
This RFI, while focused on currently fielded, new/up and coming, and future loitering munitions, intends to determine the level of vendor interest and whether industry possesses the requisite capabilities to produce maritime precision strike and associated capabilities for a number of different customers. The Government is also seeking vendors with unique attributes to simplify and streamline integration efforts. Ultimately, we hope to attain information on munitions that meet or are close to meeting the MLE-1 requirements by the end of Q1FY26 while gaining awareness of products and plans to meet subsequent increments and maritime requirements.
MLE-1 provides combatant craft with an organic precision-strike mission package to engage targets over-the-horizon when conventional methods cannot be employed. The MLE-1 mission package is designed to be a beyond line-of-sight missile system with man-on-the-loop flight controls, multi-mode seeker, loitering, and scalable effects warhead/payload options that minimizes collateral damage.
