Stargazer,

It should be very interesting to know were you have the sideview of the
Sikorsky contender from.It is very different compared with
the one in the 'U.S Bombers B-1 to B-70' book.
Thanks in advance.

NOTE: The above refers to a topic on the XB-19 that was split. The beginning of the discussion can be found here:

"My" Sikorsky BLR-3 comes from the very same book I've quoted in my XB-16 thread: U.S. Bombers (Aero, 1974). I would be very interested to see "your" BLR-3 for comparison.

I see..

The book I have -same title- dates from 1966 .
So 'yours' could be an improved/alternate drawing.
In the meantime , watch the postman.

Finally, the scans from Lark are here.

I have Lloyd S Jones' "US Bombers" third edition from 1980. The drawing on my book has no raised cockpit and it's much more detailed than the crude sketch from 1966 edition.

However, the figure 65 is the same in both editions: the 1/25 model has raised cockpit.

That was why I'm wondering about Pome..
If the windtunnel model had a raised cockpit why have the later
3-views a new look. Later design evolution maybe ?

Sorry, Hesham and all, but the XBLR-3 drawing is NOT, in fact, the XBLR-3. Rather, it is a not-bad 3-view of the Material Division Design 320.

Lloyd Jones is aware that the 3-view is not correct and we have talked about it at a bit of length. In fact, many years after his book was published he came across a side view from the Sikorsky Archives. This is good as the Sikorsky Archives seem to have almost nothing on the project - or else it has been filed under some very obscure heading and is almost impossible to find. I have redrawn the Sikorsky original for my next book so will not post it here. Sorry.
