Solid propellant leaves a very visible thick smoke trail, even during normal operation. Some sources are saying it might be a UR-100N though. Are you sure it's the RS-28? Because purple smoke indicates a potassium-based solid propellant.
Not all of it. Though lack of visible smoke does typically impose a performance penalty so I don't know why you'd ever use it on an ICBM. (Satellites aren't looking for smoke.)Solid propellant leaves a very visible thick smoke trail, even during normal operation.
That's what I heard as well. What chatter disagrees on so far is if the payload was an HGV for a test or if this missile was part of the Rokot (modified UR-100N) space launch effort and thus had a satellite as payload. Haven't seen it being linked to Sarmat though. Some sources are saying it might be a UR-100N though.

Probably test to see if Avangard can disassemble itself hypersonically fast, but they still have a ways to go judging by that video.Very short range test?
SS-X-29 is legitimateHave any of this missile's alleged designations been confirmed as legitimate - GRAU index 15A28 or NATO reporting name SS-X-29/30?
At t=15s, is that the second stage firing off to the right? And again.

Obviously, the russians have quite lost the expertise needed to develop new missiles.
How many MIRV were reduced for FOBS as more warhead ==> shorter range ==> may be too heavy for FOBSnews sites are all saying 35,000kms that is quite a huge jump in range from the Satan 1 considering google specs saying they are roughly the same size.

Well, Titan II could lift 10klbs ballistic or 8klbs to orbit, so that's about the % loss I'd expect. -20% for a FOBS shot. How many MIRV were reduced for FOBS as more warhead ==> shorter range ==> may be too heavy for FOBS
1 from 4 based on a Google.Apparently a successful test launch of sarmat yesterday. Is that 2 from 4?

Doubt he was referring to highly expensive nuclear ICBMs.So this just means they need to build more of them: And remember what Comrade Stalin said: "Quantity has a quality all of its own"!

If it follows the trends of other branches the "dire situation" will lead to more missiles deployed than pre-2022. Not that it's really needed, given that Russia fields the most extensive and varied arsenal of ballistic missiles.Given how much Russia has been squandering in its' Ukrainian invasion and its' increasingly dire economic situation I highly doubt that Russia will be able to build and deploy many SS-30 Satan II ICBMs in the near future.
