This month's Navy News magazine contains a chart showing the Royal Navy''s equipment and its usual monthly maps of where ships are.
The Queen Elizabeth is being refitted in Portsmouth while Prince of Wales is being repaired in Scotland.
Of the six T45s based in Portsmouth only Dauntless, Duncan and Defender are shown as active in UK.
Four T23 are based in Portsmouth and eight in Devonport. Northumberland is shown in the Norwegian Sea with the Astute class sub Artful. Lancaster is shown in the Gulf. Somerset, Montrose, and Portland are shown as active in UK.
The River class OPV have taken on the role of earlier frigates. Five batch 2 and three batch 1 are based in Portsmouth.
Tamar is in the Indian Ocean. Forth is in the South Atlantic. Medway is in the Caribbean. Tyne, Seven and Mersey are active in UK .
Mine Countermeasures forces consist of six Hunt class in Portsmouth and three Sandown class in Faslane(plus three autonomous MCMV). Middleton, Chiddingfold, and Bangor are active in the Gulf. Hurworth is active in UK.
Some sixteen Archer class patrol boats live at Portsmouth and Faslane for inshore work and training.
The 4 Vanguard class SSBN and 5 Astute SSN are based at Faslane. HMS Triumph the last Trafalgar class SSN is at Devonport. One SSBN and HMS Artful are at sea.
The RN 's two LPD are based in Devonport but neither are shown as active. Only three Bay class LSD are left in service along with RFA Argus the training and hospital ship. Four Point class Ro Ro ships are still in service. Only Cardigan Bay is shown as active, in the Gulf.
The tanker and replenishment force now consists of Fort Victoria, 4 Tide class and 2 Wave class. Only Fort Victoria and Tiderace are shown as active (in UK).
HMS Protector the Ice Patrol ship is in the South Atlantic. The Ocean Survey ship Scott is off West Africa. Only one Echo class survey ship remains.
The Royal Navy has two Astute SSN, three Dreadnought SSBN, eight T26 and five T31 shown as building.
The Royal Navy has never been so thinly spread. But it is not fighting any wars and only the Gulf based units risk combat.
A full page spread shows HMS Portland shadowing the RFS Admiral Gorshkov. But in a sign of the times Gorshkov does not dwarf the Portland as Kirov once did.
