I'd completely forgot about the film and it's very good plus Robert Duvall gives a good performance as Sgt. Pendergast (From the robbery division) on his last day of work (It turns out he didn't want to retire but his high-maintanence/high-strung wife wanted him to).

I'd forgot about THX 1138, that was one of Robert Duvall's early acting gigs IIRC, although it was released in 1971 its' filming was done in 1968/69 IIRC.
 
Two of his lesser-known aviation-related films:

Countdown —Lunar Gemini vs. communists, with James Caan, directed by Robert Altman (who was fired by Jack Warner himself before it was released).

The Great Santini — tough-as-nails Marine F-4 pilot vs. his sensitive teenage son, with a handful of F-4 aerial shots.
 
In the movie "Countdown" Duvall plays an astronaut that gets bumped down on his schedule to go to the moon when NASA wants a civilian astronaut (James Caan) to fly instead for the first landing (using a modified Gemini). Duvall then trains as his back-up, trying to wash Caan's character out so he can go instead. Interesting dynamic with a surprise from the Russians near the end. Free on Youtube

In that clip from the film "Network" where Faye Dunaway was in it occurred to me that it was a pity that Robert Duvall wasn't in the hit 1974 disaster-movie "The Towering Inferno".
