Meet the ancestor of the well-known Rheintochter AA missile. It was a powder-propelled rocket proposed in a HVA (Heeresversuchsanstalt Peenemünde) notice dated from 15th October of 1942. It had just one stage, with movable winglets in the warhead, featuring 14,3 tons thrust. Designed speed would be 300 m/s, range 15 kms.

Sounds like something that's badly in need of an English-language version. :p


I wonder what the guidance system was going to be. Against piston-engined aircraft at low to medium level, speed and range appear more than adequate.

Die bekannte Luftabwehrrakete der Luftwaffe „Rheintochter“ sein ein eigener Entwurf der Firma Rheinmetall – so dachte man bisher. Doch ein Mitarbeiter des Heereswaffenamtes legte 1942 unabhängig einen vielversprechenden Entwurf vor, der dann weiterentwickelt wurde.
