I learned a lot recently, about the FDL-5 / FDL-7 shaped projects from Lockheed (FDL-5MA) and Douglas (Model 176).
Plus their engine, the AMS-1, aerospike & fluorine thing.

There are also Douglas Model 192 (RHEINBERRY) and Lockheed STAR-Clipper, both with XLR-129.

I was wondering if all these programs, happening in the 1965-72 era, were related - one way or another - into a large one ?

RHEINBERRY
: suborbital reconnaisance, 1*XLR-129, dropped from a B-52, top speed Mach 22

Douglas Model 176
& Lockheed FDL-5
MA
>two variants
- Titan III launched
- 1.5STO through small drop tanks + fluorine + aerospike

Lockheed STAR-Clipper
Heavy lift (25000 to 50 000 pounds) with big drop tanks and multiple XLR-129s.

Note that I put that topic on "the bar" because this is pure speculation from me. Just asking in passing.
