The single biggest problem with the Puma is that it only holds 7 grunts.

Any replacement of the Bradley needs to hold 9 to 11 grunts.

Because a full squad is 9, plus a medic and air controller makes 11.

If you absolutely have to, you can split a squad across two vehicles with a fireteam in each, but that means you need twice as many tracks and track crews. Instead of a platoon being hauled in 3 tracks you're hauling it in 6 tracks.

Bradelys split fireteams across the vehicles so they carried a platoon in 4 tracks. And that didn't work in Iraq or in Afghanistan, so the new Bradley Infantry platoon is 6 vehicles each hauling 1 fireteam plus 1-2 add-ons like platoon leader, medic, dog team, air controller, etc.​
