PT-76 replacement prototypes: PT-85 (Object 906), Object 685, and Object 934

Hello all

I thought I'd create a tread for people to post pictures and information on soviet projects to replace the PT-76.

Attached are pictures of each I found on the web.

I know that,there was an attempt to fit it with 90mm gun,instead off replacement ?,during 1973 war,
we had more than 300 unit of it.

There were also at least 2 other variants of the 934, the Obzhimka, a 120 mm self-propelled mortar similar to the Nona-S, and a BMPT variant with a low profile turret reminiscent of the Object 688 sp2, albeit with twin 30 mm guns installed.

Interesting. Wasn’t that low profile BMPT turret also considered for the BMP-3? I remember reading about that somewhere recently.

Yes, that was the Object 688 sp2.

Object 685 was later used to develop the chassis of the BMP-3.

(apologies if this source is a little lacking, I researched the BMP-3 some months ago and specifically remember this detail though the source I saw the claim is lost to me, ill try to find more later)
