Able to run away and survive to fight another day is nice, isn't it?
But being chased away and prevented from completing your mission is outright mission failure.
You can't easily come/sneak back or right away either since you made loud noises while running away. Your rough location is now well known.
For subs stealth is the better tactical option than speed.

Rough location when it stopped being noisy. Which goes outdated very fast, and very soon requires full search again, from scratch.
Lira could be silent...enough.

It is, but stealth tends to work one way. SSKs are still aremhandily more silent than SSNs, and always were; yet their realistic chances in combat v SSN - even with right of first shot, - were always...moderate at best. After first shot, things are desperate.
