That particular Tornado was used to test a number of different turbojet engines. But the caption in Life magazine says what it says. Since we don't have x-ray eyes (damn the bad luck) there's no way to know for sure. -SP

Other than its longer nose, angled exhaust outlets, I don't see any other external differences between XP-83-1 and XP-83-2. It's great to FINALLY see a photo of it! -SP

In 1947, Theodorus Niemeijer N.V., a dutch coffee & tea merchant, was selling its stuff with aircraft pictures, some of which were quite nice. Here's hoping you agree.

Truly great pics, indeed. I especially like the Fury because it's my favorite of the four aircraft and an unusual angle/setting for that aircraft, but the other three pics are equally great!

the B-36H had diverse nose cockpit sector, this must be a YB-60

Nice photos Steve - thanks. I think those are canvas covers on the A-20s, the nearest one is not flush to the fuselage. Looks like it is ballooned out from a breeze. A rare one though is what appear to be the one and only Fairchild 45/JK-1 near the top of the photo - you can see the aft portion of it. The other light plane looks to be a Stinson Reliant.
