Renard fighters in a ground-attack configuration were planned to be fitted with eight 10 kg bombs, but also with a "grenade launcher" containing 30 grenades.
Up until recently, I had no information at all about these grenade launchers, but I found a make and model; "SEGA type 30". SEGA stands for Société Générale d'Entreprises Aéronautiques, which merged with a branch of Fairey Aviation Company in 1931 to form Avions Fairey, the Belgian branch of Fairey.
In that document, I found the 30 grenades weighed 36 kg, for a weight of 1.2 kg per grenade. Pretty heavy for a grenade.
And a few days ago, I found a picture of that grenade launcher being tested on a Fairey Firefly IIM, which looks like a simple box which drops the grenades when opened.
Does anyone have an idea of the possible characteristics of such grenades? Type, dimensions, other similar weapons...
