I was reading the 1943 Aeronautics Aircraft Spotters' Handbook and on page 26 the Bolkhovitinov DB-A is referred to as "Tupolev TB-6B (A.N.T. 41)", even though the Tupolev ANT-26 (TB-6) was a totally different aircraft than the Bolkhovitinov DB-A, and the ANT-41 was a torpedo-bomber. Does anybody know why the Bolkhovitinov DB-A was mistakenly referred to as the Tupolev TB-6 in the handbook?

My guess would be that the writer was trying to cobble something together based on fragmentary pre-war information (which had low quality due to propaganda, lack of translators/lack of communication with the Soviet Union) and made guesses?
