First the latest military examples.

New generation motion simulator. Based on how far off the rotation axis the cab gets, the more g's can be felt while the spin gimbals allow the force to be rotated to any direction.

A more pedestrian (literally) simulator. Looks like moving your body causes the scene to shift in the direction of motion.

Gaming simulators will probably drive technology faster although they will always be constrained to what a civilian enthusiast can afford.
This one looks like the ultimate although it will probably take a ton of $$ to develop.

Seems a startup called "Neoengress" is making a simulator cockpit for the F-18C. The level of realism is pretty high but I would guess not too many people are going to be able to buy these (unless they have some incredible way to cut costs). The obvious gaming market would include Flight Simulator, DCS, War Thunder, etc.
