I question the accuracy of the data sheet of those paintings. Just because it states they were painted in 1963. My understanding is those designs didn't even exist in the sixties, so how could they have been painted then? I'm thinking 1973?

The St. Louis ATF effort was led by a conservative retired USAF fighter general who had rejected a stealth-driven approach in favour of what programme officials called a "super F-15." McDonnell Douglas placed fifth, behind Boeing.

Ironically, today I would describe the F-22 as a "super F-15": more maneuverable, faster, better radar, etc. Oh, and stealthy.
