Anyone know about a British pre-war company called Marendaz (actually International Aircraft and Engineering)? I must admit this aircraft, the Marendaz Mark 3, comes as a complete discovery to me:

From A.W.J.G.Ord-Hume's magnificent 'British Light Aeroplanes'. This is the entry concerning the Marendaz Mk. III. I'll also post the entries concerning the Marendaz Trainer and the abortive Marendaz Monoplane.

...........and finally, the abortive Marendaz Monoplane. I wonder whether the amount of Marendaz data on this general thread warrants the opening of a separate, specific Marendaz thread and for the data to be transferred from this to that?

Of course it does! Thank you so very much to you all for filling a gap in my (and presumably other members') knowledge of pre-war British aircraft!

Hi Avion,

this aircraft is different from MK.III,and that means; it was the first aircraft designed
by this company,am I right ?.

Yes, I believe that you are, Hesham. Ord-Hume explains why it was never finished and never flew (note to moderators - doesn't this fact warrant the material concerning the Marendaz Monoplane being transferred back to Early Aircraft Projects?) and mentions that parts of it were employed in the construction of the Marendaz Mk. III.

Since this is a topic on all things Marendaz, it would not be wise to split into two separate topics, considering the very limited production and existence of the company. Better put it all together in one place for later reference I think.

There is a significant amount of Marendaz related information to be found at http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?86219-Barton%28Beds%29-Aerodrome.

Thank you avion_ancien for this info. It's the first time I've seen an extract of the book by Ord-Hume; it seems really amazing.

Like the majority of his works, the level of insight is incredible. You'll learn more about the subjects on which he writes that you can hope for from 99% of the other authors who write on these. His books are not cheap but they certainly offer value for money. I can recommend them unreservedly - and I don't get a commission for so doing!
