Greetings All -

A new one on me - from the Fall 1961 issue of Air Progress. The full flying vertical tail is interesting...

Enjoy the Day! Mark

A side view from the Green/Punnett "World Airpower Guide" 1963. Contrary to the caption,
only three prototypes are said to have been built (so still suitable for this section .. ;) )
On other photos (e.g. here http://www.airwar.ru/enc/la/mfi10.html), the vertical
tail looks conventional, with fin and rudder. Maybe the "full flying version" was only used
on the first prototype ?

By the way,

Malmo continued his series up to MFI-18.

Hi all :)
I think that indeed 3 examples were built. No.1 (MFI-10 registered SE-CFI) initially had the all flying tail and 160hp Lycoming O-320-A2B engine. I think it ended up in the Arlanda Flygmuseum.
The other two aircraft were designated as MFI-10B and evaluated by the Swedish Army. These aircraft had the 180hp Lycoming O-360-A1D and a prominent dorsal fairing ahead of the tail. They were later disposed of as became SE-CPH and SE-CPI. The first was sold to Spain (became EC-CAN), but was lost in an accident.
In the early-1990s RFB (Rhein FlugzeigbnaunGmbH( in Germany tried to revive the Vipan as MFI-10C and the surviving MFI-10B received a 200hp Lycoming IO-360 and was presented at the 1993 Paris Air Show.
I understand it may now be in a Museum in Sweden (Flygmuseum?).

for those with Facebook, I have posted an album on the 'finnoscandia group' pages on the Vipan

It's not open my dear TsrJoe.

Maybe you restricted access to it somehow. At https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.835906276506997&type=1 I get the following error from Facebook:

Yes, it works well now.
Nice collection you got there, Joe. Thank you.
