I suspect to had taken an oversight ??? ???, probably the wings, in some configuration of L-153 had remind me Me P.1110 !
So, configuration -2 -22 and -34 of Lockeed L-153 was very interesting !

Here are some larger drawings of the L-153-1 and -2.

Do you have any further information on the L-153-5 design? What engines was it to have? And what actually it was to be: a fighter or a bomber? The four-engine layout would be rather uncommon for a fighter, don't you think?

Piotr

The report is mostly drawings. It is titled Design History of the XP-90 Airplane. There are only a few pages of text which basically state Lockheed was conducting investigations of highly swept wings and engine installations. Lockheed started by modifying the P-80. Here are more drawings from the report.

L-153-22. Interesting study for alternate fuel tanks including what looks like a 'saddle' type mounted on top of the fuselage.

Excellent drawings RAP, thanks.

Probably just good luck, Lockheed used the outboard pivot point that made the variable sweep wing viable compared to the inboard point of the Bell X-5 and Grumman XF-10F. Sure would have been interesting to see this design actually fly.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Couple more drawings but I don't know the sub number. Also not sure where the intakes are. In the top view it looks like there are notches for what could be NACA type flush intakes but no indication on the side view.

Those are NACA-style flush intakes as you say, they are drawn on the side view in other versions of this drawing I've seen. It's L153-7.

Hi,

here is a clearer view to L-153-11.
