Found this while attempting to track down photos of the model for the planned RAF variant of the C-5A Galaxy:
 
Brochure mentions the "multi-mode radar". Looking through mid-60s literature I see that the original Norden unit developed for the C-5A operated in X and Ku-band with terrain-following capability. This was integrated with the Honeywell AFCS for automated terrain-following. It incorporated frequency-agility and also had modes for weather contour mapping, radar approaches and station-keeping. Oddly I can't find a designation for the Norden radar.

From Q3 1983 onwards the Norden radar was replaced by the much less ambitous Bendix AN/APS-133 colour weather radar and the tactical modes were lost.
