The IDF revealed today that it had operationally used the Iron Beam (there are 3 publicly disclosed variants) against Hezbollah drones launched from Lebanon, claiming "dozens" defeated.

YNet reports that 30-40 drones were defeated, including some from "other arenas", likely indicating Iraq and possibly Yemen.

Released footage shows the Lite Beam, a tactically mobile 10kW HEL.
The most significant part of this report is the referenced dates. The war with Hezbollah ended in November of 2024. So it must have occurred before.
We also know the IDF operationally used Spyder systems and tested other methods - ultimately resulting in an approximately 90% success rate against OWA drones.

Although the footage shows Lite Beam (10kW) exclusively, we do know the IDF also has at least a prototype of higher power (50/100kW) Iron Beam, and an airborne demonstrator. All of which could have been used for operational tests, although of course this is just conjecture at this point.

Rafael's page on the Lite Beam. They show it installable on a light vehicle, but the IDF used it in a stationary configuration.

I remind that Iron Beam is already in production and scheduled for delivery to IDF by year end. It comes in 2 variants. Iron Beam M - 50kW, and Iron Beam - 100kW.

Rafael explained the mechanism behind their laser solutions:

The system uses Inverse Adaptive Optics to overcome atmospheric distortions. It sends not one powerful and coherent beam, but "hundreds" of individual beams, each with unique attributes of frequency, phase, and polarization.
When the beams reflect back to the system, it measures which had the strongest return, and adjusts all beams to these optimized characteristics.

It is now FOC.

Apparently I made a mistake earlier. It is impossible to independently verify at this stage, but IOC was declared in September and now a "full series of batteries" would be deployed by year end.

Serial production contracts were awarded last year. It seems they can be quite quickly manufactured.

It is not understood what FOC really means. If they met a mininal threshold for deployment across all borders, or went beyond that.
The IDF usually aligns re-equipment efforts with enlistment periods. Service is 3 years so if existing units switch to HELs then it's a 3 year process. If new units are set up then it can be done more quickly.

Elbit CEO says the IDF has given Elbit contracts for acquisition (not just R&D) of airborne laser pods for helicopters and fighter aircraft.
