That A-4 looks like it should get a hernia. Fascinating pictures, though.

I'm assuming the Su still has wheels, with them sticking through the skis? I haven't seen anything like that since the U.S. tests back in the 40's to have planes take off from barges. But I'm guessing the purpose for that would be all you would need is a water filled ditch to take off from; i.e. a really wet runway that if struck by bombs, you just fill them back up with water, including the holes, which would make for a very fast runway repair.

Oh, it's too bad it was a joke because it would have made sense. BTW, I wasn't joking about the WW2 tests of planeslaunching from a barge and taking off from the water on skis. It's in one of my Wings/Airpower issues.

This Su-25 belong to a Romanian Air force?...i meant for the red, green, white roundel.

Raravia

Based on the nature around, I think it is Armenia.

To Sundog: Yes, its interesting and sounds like usefull idea, but unfortunatelly not on this picture.

Any idea about the weapon load? It looks like torpedoes!!!

Looks like launching tubes for AT missiles, maybe AT6 Spirals

Edit:
After some "research" on the net, I think they are most likely AT9's or even more recent AT missiles

In the early 90, there was one project for put "occidental" torpedoes on the Mi-24. Some sources said that there were the Mark 44, but others said that they were italian A-244S.

I believe they are AT-10 Vihkr ATGM. If memory serves they are a dual purpose missile for both ground and air targets.

Rare photo of flight of Su-35 without canopy taken from aboard Yak-40 with the left door removed. This flight is a part of making the movie "The Mirrored Wars" at the South of Russia.

I agree they certainly look like torpedoes. I've also seen reference to Italian A-244S torpedoes being reported fitted to a Croatian Mi-24 `Hind' helicopter back in 1996.

They certainly are NOT AT-10s or AT-6s!

Regards,

Greg

Regardless of the size of the torpedo I still believe that is what is on the Hind in the photo. Remember the Hind is a large helicopter. Also, the picture below shows a PLA Naval Air Force Z-9C (Chinese version of the Eurocopter Dauphin) helicopter carrying the ET-52 torpedo (Chinese version of the A.244S lightweight anti-submarine torpedo purported to have been trialled on a Croatian Mi-24 `Hind' helicopter back in 1996). If you compare the two pictures, I believe you will see that the stores being carried by the Hind in the picture do appear very similar.

BTW, here are the basic dimensions of the Torpedo shown:

Calibre: 324mm
Length: 2,600mm
Weight: 235kg

I still don't see a Hokum carry 6 of them under each wing.
A torpedo needs a certain mass to contain the necessary explosives to achieve its goal.

That the cabriolet version? ;D

Who is talking about Hokums/6 torpedoes??? I'm simply referring to the picture of the Hind that appears to be carrying 4 torpedoes! Please don't confuse the issue.

Regards,

Greg

And I wronly assumed that we were talking about the hokum.
The Hind pic doesn't open on my pc apparently, I only just saw that there is supposed to be a pic.
Sorry about the confusion. :-\

It seems that after electing our new labour government, the socialism is sublimating to the surface in every possible place :D ;D :D
