Ideal image size?

could anyone let me know what the recommended size for images for posting on site please.

800 x 600 is enough detail to satisfy on screen, but not really enough to print. If you wish to prevent people misusing your work, I'd stick to 800 x 600. If you aren't worried about that I'd suggest 1024 x768, purely on a selfish note - I've got a nice big screen
