I came across this quaint old film about the UK observers corps and nuclear warning set up in the early 60s.

But then I realised from the Lightnings and Javelins this might have been the UK reacting if things had gone wrong over Berlin or Cuba.
As a kid I remember the air raid siren at our fire station sounding regularly. Listening to the people in the film and seeing their clothes took me back too.
The mushroom in the film might have been over Bride Norton or Upper Heyford.
Perhaps it explains why I am still obsessed by the Cold War.
