...why the P model precedes the H? Or at least appears to fade from service first, and all the wartime developments are of the H model, with no other letters in between?
(As I understand it, I and J are indistinguishable in German and O would not have been used because of its potential confusion with zero, so you pretty much only have K, M, N before P anyway.)
