The He 111R was a proposed high altitude version of the He 111, which suffered from a relatively low service ceiling. The original design (He 111R-1) using the Junkers Jumo 211F-1 engine, was never built, but a second version (R-2), powered by the Daimler Benz DB 603U combined with turbo-superchargers, did reach the prototype stage early in 1944. Tests revealed that the new aircraft did not live up to expectations, and so work on the project was cancelled. Even if work had progressed further, German aircraft production was soon to concentrate almost exclusively on fighters, so the late-appearing He 111R would never have appeared in great numbers.

Anyone know more about this version ? ??? ???

On Wikipedia english is mentioned like project.

Max Bentelle, an engineer involved in the development of the Hirth turbochargers, wrote about flight trials of an He 111 fitted with a Jumo 211 using the 9-2216 turbosupercharger in 1942. It was found that the turbine blades suffered from resonances that caused early failures and further development focused on the 9-2281 which embodied some design differences.

This prototype could be considered a precursor of the He 111R-1. I have the understanding that Junkers did manufacture at least a few Jumo 211s with turbosuperchargers - there were some possibly dubious claims that they were fitted to some Ju 88Cs. It seems to me that, if any DB 603U engines were available, it would have made more sense to fit them to a Do 217 with the long span wings (which were fitted to the variants fitted to carry the HS 293 missile). The low aspect ratio wings of the He 111 wouldn't have been a good choice for high altitude flight.

It is often difficult to figure out what existed and what didn't exist in late war Germany.

The proposed He 111R-1 was a bomber to be powered by two turbo-supercharged 1,350 hp Jumo 211F-2 engines in annular cowlings. This was abandoned in favour of the R-2, which was to have been powered by two 1,810 hp Daimler-Benz DB603U engines with either Hirth 2281 or TKL 15 turbo-superchargers, but only one prototype was produced - the He 111 V32 which was fitted with two DB 603U engines and TK 9AC superchargers.
