Hi Chaps.

Does anyone have (or know where I can get) any info (especially drawings) of the Hawker P1048, A post-war (C. 1946) twin-jet fighter?

Any help much appreciated.

That's interesting...the P.1048 is not cited on Tony Buttler volumes :(

Yes, I had a look too and couldn't see any reference to it (there is a gap where the project number should be), however I have found this on an R/C modellers site which made me want to check whether it was a bona fide Hawker project - or just someone 'messing around'.

I'd like to visualise this for my site.

Pome, i think your avatar may need new glasses! no offence intended, but it's there, BSP1, jet fighters since 1950, page 168,

P.1048, interceptor figter to AM1/46....2 AJ.65s, 2 Adens...similar and contempoary with Su-9 (1st type).
Deliberately paraphrased due to posting restrictions from these titles.

also 3-view on page 167.

this too from putnam's Hawker, page 634, 'P.1048, fighter with two armstrong siddeley AS.65s (sapphire?), tendered november 1945.'

cheers,
Robin.

Ah ah!

Thanks for that gents. Don't know how I missed it in TB's book - (well I do actually - I shouldn't look up things like that in badly-lit library at the end of a long day - perhaps my chap should lay-off the pipe smoking!). Will take a proper look tonight.

Thanks for the links and references.

Cheers.

You're right Robin!!! :D Late night posting is a risky sport. ;)

Hi Martin
the pics you got from the R/C modellers look like the initial scamps I did on the Aeroscale site.
Thorvic is correct, I have done some colour profiles of the P1048, which are on my site.
If you want to use them please be my guest.

Cheers
Peter

Thanks gentlemen.

Splendid 3-view Justo, much appreciated. Thanks for the offer Peter, I shall use your profiles too.

I'm now all set to go.

Thanks again one and all.

Martin.

Thanks gentlemen.

Despite its fairly conventional layout it was an interesting project - had elements of Me 262, Tempest and Meteor - a real 'War Ministry Mongrel' - but for all that it's a very elegant aircraft. Fun to model too - I may well animate this at a later stage - maybe some fake footage of a formation intercepting a big Luftwaffe jet bomber - something for the cold January evenings to come.

Thanks again.

Martin

If its being used without permission to sell a product that certainly counts as copyright infringement.
