Based on the undimensioned pictures and drawings, I do not believe there is enough volume in the pontoons to lift 1000 tons to an altitude of 100,000 feet. Why does he (Hunt) think airship are so big it is because of the volume required for aerostatic lift.

If he was to build it based on this concept drawing, it would have to be enormous and have to land in the ocean, because no airport is big enough and what if they put him in a holding pattern?

I think he is trying to lift money out of uninformed people pockets.

Also, in the Gizmag article it is stated:
"Even better than Helium , according to Hunt, is the idea to use a vacuum-lift system in the hybrid aircraft."

Ehm....yes, it would be better, PROVIDED YOU COULD ACTUALLY BUILD A VACUUM CELL THAT DOESN'T WEIGH A FRAKKIN' TON AND A HALF!

If anyone can enlighten us (well, me, actually) as to why vacuum lift would be even remotely possible, please step forward now.

Sadly, as we have seen all too often, the fact that something has been granted a patent is no guarantee that it actually does what it says on the box :p

Even if it does not actually work, this is a very nice fuel-replacement dream, and a very beautiful twin-fuselage shape... ;D Thanks a lot, engineers and reporters... :D
