GoPro Crash

There were a *lot* of questionable decisions involved in that crash.

I had a look through some of the comments one the Youtube page, this one made me smile . . .
"Is this a trailer for the new Star Wars movie, where from 25 to 50 seconds it looks like Luke's great grandson is trying to break through the imperial star destroyer fleet in his X-wing fighter? Leia seems worried at 35 seconds. Either the Force wasn't with him this time or maybe he should have left the affair to Han Solo instead!"
More pertinently, the pilot himself commented :-
"When the engine failed I couldn't see that there was space in front of me to land without totaling the airplane. In testing it was taking 1,000 feet to stop and remember the spar is the landing gear. I didn't think I could pull power and land straight ahead without totalling the airplane, we hadn't yet done vmc testing but thought we could at least use power to get away from the boneyard. A tight corner for sure."
