Gee Bee 'Eightster'

"this is a 'scale' model of a plane that never got off the ground. The Gee Bee Eightster, an airliner that was to be built by Gee Bee. It sure looked cool, but the company was bankrupt before a full size prototype was done."


Does anyone have any further information? Attached below is an image of the model.

Please note that C-4 was to be the Fourster, C-6 was the Sixster and C-8 was the Eightster.

According to Aerofiles (which may be wrong) the model pictured in Aerofiles (below) depicts the C-6. To me it's consistent with the C-8 Eightster.

Here is a sketch from Air Pictorial dated April 1956 (courtesy of Avia Deja Vu) supposed to depict the Eightster (probably named for 2 crew + six passengers).

All "What If" work, yes, but the closest we can get at this point to the feel of what the C-6/C-8 aircraft might have looked like, since it carries the various schemes of the most prominent military and civilian types of the time...

It looks like it's been about 10 years since anyone posted on this thread, but I figured I'd share this anyway. I love obscure aircraft concepts and recently took up interest again in the GeeBee C-6 and C-8. I also do a fair amount of generative AI content, so I figured I'd put my prompting skills and a few of my credits to good use and use AI to see what one of these aircraft might have looked like in full scale and color.
