Hi all,

found this very nice sport aircraft project by Fred Smith. The powerplant was a Hirth with 55 HP. (Span 7,30 m, L 5,11m, gross weight 340 kg, Vm 301 km/h, Vr 258 km/h and Vmin 84 km/h. I have no information about the history of this aircraft B)

Hi Maveric :D
Psssst keep it a secret, please :-X
Please have some patience. The coming October 31 issue of 1000aircraftphotos.com will have a history of the aircraft/design.
I will appear under the name Frederick-Ames EOS.
Hope you like this picture of the aircraft (which still exists)

Pretty little plane!
The Hirth engine proved unreliable, so eventually it was as re-powered with a modified VW engine and flew fine after that.
Plans to sell it in kit form failed.
Pity!

turns out this guy was my father

Good coincidence, and can I ask you if he designed anther aircraft or not ?.

Well, I just found this out, but he was a race car builder too.

he designed the Piranha . A complete plastic frame, extremely light IMG_1510.jpeg IMG_1509.jpeg

I recall the EOS being featured in EAA Sport Aviation and possibly Air Progress. Sharp looking aircraft.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

It looks as if one is for sale in Michigan:

In contact with owner. trying to figure out how to maybe get the plane.... Electric???
