For Old Glory: Republic F-103

Truthfully the reason is because of doing these three views (the other two views of all these jets will come later) as opposed to cutaways. They are quite a bit less headache than cutaways. That said I might try to do a half dozen cutaways for the book at some point. I'm really feeling like making a cutaway of the Fairey F155 since their is so much on it's theoretical structure for me to extrapolate from. ;D

Any chance of also doing this profile with the conventional cockpit?

That would be fairly easy I suppose. That said I also believe there were subtle differences in the actual airframe and flight control surfaces...but I could be wrong.

prolific1 have you already talk to Scott Lowther for illustrate eARP V5N1 ?

Along the lines of "ya know what would be cool. . ." would be a Century Series "Family" shot of the F-100 to F-109 (yeah, I know the story on the name and the 109 but it fits so well. . .) to scale.

F-100 Super Saber
F-101 VooDoo
F-102 Delta Dagger
XF-103 Thunderwarrior
F-104 Starfighter
F-105 Thunderchief
F-106 Delta Dart
YF-107
XF-108 Rapier
XF-109 (Bell VTOL)

So if you run out of ideas. . . ;D

Well originally what this installment of my book (as I intend to make more) will cover unbuilt or non-production military aircraft of the 1950's. That said it would be nice to make a century series "poster" or something along those lines. After I run through the two dozen or so aircraft I figure will make my book arty enough, I intend to go back and make the other views out of each (top, bottom, and maybe front to back). Then I'll work on the layout and graphic design phase of the completed book.

Huh? Did someone just say "F-109"?
Some numbers are just magical! And this one tops them all!!!
Give us an F-109 all right! Pur-leeeeeaaazzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, THAT Bell VTOL!
But not the D-118 or D-139... that was the Vertiburner.
Not even the D-188, which was a conventional looking fighter too.
We're talking about D-188A, not in the early US Navy "XF3R-1" configuration, but the later "XF-109"...

Some pics attached...

No other name than "Model 2000" I'm afraid...

Why not make up one that would sound good for Bell Aircraft fighter?
Maybe "Airacobra II" or "Super Cobra"? Or possibly, if we're to follow along the same serpentine lines, something like "Adder", "Viper" or "Mamba"?

In order to avoid proliferation of inappropriate data, I have removed the "Thunderwarrior" name from this topic's title, for reasons you can find here:
