Hi
as I am working on a new set of profiles I thought I might put up a few British profiles done previously.

Any comments or advise is truly welcomed.

Cheers
Peter

Hi Flitzer,

Type 327 is a beauty!

I believe that would the 305 Sqdn have had some of these, they would have been able to fly from Gibraltar to Malta straight, protecting the Royal Navy in the Eastern Mediterraneam and shortening Rommel victories.

It was a mistake not manufacturing it instead of the Whirlwind ...

Peter, your profiles are beautiful. I know your site and I must say that you have done excellent work...but I want more British (RAF'46 ;) ). Luft '46 is overrated. Maybe in future we will see profiles of British aircraft prototypes of the thirties and fourties ;)
I cannnot wait new profiles of British 'what ifs'.

Dominik

Hi
Justo
many thanks. I have a real soft spot for the Whirlwind, but I also just love the 327. And looking at the problems with the Whirlwind in service life I think you could well be right.

Dominik
Your hopes may well be answered. I am currently working on more British profiles for the next set. I hope to do around 10 aircraft in the set. So RAF'46 it is.

Many thanks
Peter

A few more

Hi - I just joined the forum, I got a taste for "secret" projects a few years ago when I picked up a copy of "interceptor" by james goulding, have a few tony buttler books as well.

if you are open to suggestions, how about some of those wonderful 6 engined bomber types (as per the cover of british secret projects 1935-1950) some fantastic concepts there.

and as for the whirlwind.... all it needed was some wider thinking on the runways it used and a bit of work on the engine and it would have been a fantastic aircraft - I always thought the supermarine design was pushed aside by the Beaufighter ?

wonderful work on your profiles though, like adding skin to a museum exhibit of dinosaur bones (if that makes sense?)

Hi BSG-75
Welcome to the site and thank you for your kind words.

Skin and dinosaur bones; I couldn't have put it better myself.

As for the big 6 engined bombers, I have toyed with doing at least one or two, but they are so big I would need from now till 'bunnock' to complete one. So much to detail. I do fancy doing some though, so maybe in the future as a long term project.

Many thanks
Peter

I agree, and nice analogy. Flitzer's work isn't just good enough to be published, its better than a lot of published artwork.

You see a lot of line drawings in "secret projects" books, very few with potential schemes on them. I remember when I was young, in one of the RAF year books (1974/75 ?) it had a feature condensed from Project Cancelled with colour artwork of in service TSR-2, P1081 & P1052 (from memory) and a personal favourate the P1121.

I can see you with a trade stand at Duxford next year - just before you retire early and head off to live on your own airfield ! ;D

I wish. ;D  ;)

Maybe one day I will buy an old wallpaper pasting table and a large umberella. ;)
Anyone know where I might find a good second hand airfield?

Cheers
Peter

Well, you will be able to see Flitzer's beautiful P.1121 artwork published in my book on the P.1103/1121/1129 family sometime in the future. Planning a big push on the writing in the next few months while I'm unemployed.

Thanks for the reminder Paul.

Must get cracking on it.
Next one in Photoshop this weekend.

I'll look forward to seeing some of these - going back to the Whirlwind, a good few pages in the Oct Flypast about it (and the Welkin).

Hi BSG-75
thanks for the heads-up.

After a lot of enjoyable work, the next set of British WW2 Secret Projects is ready.

It is with great thanks to Justo, Jemiba, archipeppe, PMN1, robunus and many others.
I consider this a joint effort. Amazing support and help from start to finish.

The Italian M58 soon.

Cheers
Peter

And the final 8 plates.

Many thanks. The Italian M58 to finish, then it's another set of German secret profiles.

Cheers

Absolutely superb illustrations - I'm inspired to start making a few of the in 3D! Some of those push-pull contra-rotating jobs are bonkers - how many propellers can we cram into one aircraft!

Many thanks all.

I had masses of help with this set so it's a real Secret Project project ;).
More in the 'workshop'.
Cheers
Peter

A little news.
Igor at Unicraft has told me he hopes to do a kit of the Miles M22 sometime in 2009.

Cheers
