Early Soviet AI radar

Something i wanted to ask, why did they go for the unusual layout of Izumrud, having two search antennas back to back (and the Almaz above with 3 no less)? I don't remember any other fighter radar with that layout. It seems to bring unecessary complications in complexity, weight (two antennas) and space wasted (needing enough empty space for them to rotate).
Becuase it is efficient to make something that only does one thing. It also allows a sort of TWS with a locked target while search continues. On MiG-17/19 there is plenty of space

SI'm new to this page and I found it quite interesting. My question here is how the SRD-5, SRD-3, and SRD-1M radio rangefinder systems of the MiG-19 worked, And if there are technical graphic images of these systems.

MiG-19 did not use SRD-5 and I’m not sure it ever used 3,

The MiG-19 and 19S only used SRD-1, 19P used RP-1/5.

SRD-1 simply sends out the radial signal and a Kalmann filter is applied to smooth out the range signal with a 300m minimum range.
It has low altitude mode where it ignores far returns. If you search cia MiG-17 and MiG-19 you will find a lot of docs on these things.

Do you know more about the antenna of the SRD-1? Other then typical western designs which used a parabolic or funnel antenna this soviet design used a blade form mounted on the engine inlet in front of the cockpit.
