Hi guys,

in addition to the recent posts in "Designation Systems", here are the Dornier P.144, a projected high altitude medium bomber with 3xBMW801. Mind the odd arrangement of the third engine, along Dornier tradition. Image taken from "Dornier: von den Anfängen bis 1945", authored by Günter Frost, Kark Kössler and Volker Koos, published by Heel Verlag. Excellent photos, not much on projects. Enjoy.

Hi,

P.144-05,P.144-08,P.144-09,P.144-11,P.144-13 and P.144-14 were its
known versions.

Hi Hesham,

thank you so much for your additions. Do you know what differences existed within this designation?

My dear Wurger,

there is no many differences between them,P.144-05 fitted with two MG 81
7,9mm guns,and two MG 131 13mm guns for self defense,P.144-08 powered
by three BMW 801s,P.144-09 was the same as P.144-08,but with different
equipments,P.144-11 was two-seat (all the previous models had a four-seat)
and powered by three Junkers Jumo 213s with MG81 guns,P.144-13 was a larger
size version,powered by three BMW 801s and P.144-14 was a four-seat sea
rescue aircraft,fitted with MG131 guns.

Hesham, great data ;D!!!!

Can you please, please, tell me about your source? I must have it! Does it include drawings?

Wonderful find - thank you!

The stroke of the undercarriage appears very long - any idea why?

The radius of the rear prop had to be added to the length of the "standard" landing gear to
get the required ground angle, I think.

Ah! So it's about the wing's angle of attack during the early part of the take off roll - that makes sense.
