You mean you were in Belgium back then? Or do you mean you personally saw one of the famous 'triangles'?!

Btw, there was a documentary-series about the 1989 Belgian UFO Wave on Flemish national TV recently...
 
Now the triangle aircraft my Wife and I saw around 93-94 timeframe, around 0130 in the AV and semi-moonlit night (I was at the B-2 CTF at the time) did not have the three large lights, this one was more conventional. My Wife even asked me, some new program you are assigned to and I said nope honey, you just saw your first classified program.

1. Standard wing tip running lights (green/amber).
2. Fairly quiet turbine engines.
3. At a lower altitude than I expected.
4. Similar to the recent high-altitude triangular aircraft sightings.

We (the US) have various black programs going on, always have been and always will be, we have been doing this for decades.

I was in Belgium in November 1989 and i saw several of those Triangels moving in sky.
They move slow and silent, far too slow for powered Aircraft. see Video post #720

Despite claims this were powered Paraglider
I know power Paraglider they make hell of noise.
and no one is crazy to fly those during winter night.
Since the area has several High Voltage power lines on Pylons (without any lights)

Me too. Still in school though, 6th year Latin-Math. And in the wrong part of the country to try to spot any flying triangles.

How many of them did you see, and on different occasions or all at once?
If I´m not mistaking, the first sightings/reports were made by Rijkswacht/Gendarmerie officers in the German-speaking part of Belgium (East Cantons)...
Did you ever testify in one of the TV-broadcasts or TV-documentaries?
Did you contact (or maybe were part of) SOBEPS ?
I´m really curious... :)

The Berlin wall had just fell and East Europe were kicking the Communist regimes out

I was with friend in Verviers and drove back via Henri-Chapelle (i was passenger)
around Hockelbach i notice what i thought was three low flying AWAC airplanes direction Highway E40
in 1989 were the AWAC airplanes very active and regular fly low toward/from the NATO Geilenkirchen AFB.
from Henri-Chapelle we drove Welkenreadt as bunch of Gendarmes with blue light flashing racing to Henri-Chapelle
those Gendarmes witness a Triangel craft hovering near old people's home in Henri-Chapelle
One of them say that a red light detach form Triangel and flew around old people's home return to it
then the craft move slowly to E40 highway

in mean time at near highway E40 exit 39 a Gendarmes see searchlight coming from above.
They Following It to town of Eupen, there i arrived and left the car as i walk to my destination.

i notice that triangle lights fly very slow parallel to Aachenerstrasse, while Gendarmes with blue light flashing driving by.
It made no noice like AWAC airplanes or powered Paraglider, the Street sounds were louder as it's engine !
later that Craft would in next village Baelen activate again it searchlight illuminating backyard to daylight.
the witness there described it as Larger as Boeing [747] and making humming sound,
In mean time the crafts were see moving along E40 direction Liege as there using the illuminate highway to navigate
Allot NATO and Belgium military aircraft use the Belgium Highways for navigation.

At Liege the Belgium Military got them on Radar, ensued F-16 interception failed...

i don't recalled how i ended up at SOBEPS, that was 37 years ago.
They weren't cooperative to me, but i got there Dossier about the Event later.

During Spring and Summer 1990 were another sighting.
i saw light arrange in rectangle with blinking lights between them, flying fast in Night sky again no sound.
also several nights in that time period were humming sound to hear.

I convince what i saw in that November Night is unknown military aircrafts,
What operate in East block during November and return from that Mission.
The Timing and way "they" use the Highways to Navigate indicate Military operator
sadly the release date for such classified operation would be in 2039...

Any chance it was not one large/huge aircraft, but multiple smaller ones flying in close formation?
Maybe a formation of (military) airships? That could explain a no/very little noise flight in combination with the ability to fly at very low speed and to hover...
Also, the brain automatically fills in small 'gaps' in the information it receives from the eyes with 'stored knowledge' when witnessing something (partially) unknown ... As a consequence the brain could possibly (make one) see e.g. 'contours' (in this case in the shape of a triangle or rectangle) while in reality there are 3 or 4 visible lights belonging to multiple separate aircraft moving in the dark in formation at the same speed, or hovering over a specific location...
What do you think about such scenario?
I´m just thinking about other (strange) possibilities besides 'Senior Citizen' flights over Europe.

Regarding the fall of the Berlin Wall, that was caused by all those beats in Belgian disco´s in ´89. It made even the ground tremble in Ibiza.

that's why interior of UFOs are describe by witness, as was from from low budget sci fi movies from 1970s...

The thing is with 3 points of light in a dark sky (in an analogue with a milking stool) establishes a visual 2D plane in 3D space which the mind can run with (where 2 or even 4 points do not). Point being that 3 individual light sources from a distance are quite unique in tricking the mind into being a cohesive 'thing'.

And just because I don't think I ever posted this here, here is my drawing of the crafts I saw Valentines Day 1989:

The one that Jim Goodall said was VS/TOL prototypes being tested "in the Midwest and Michigan".

I really wish I was a better artist because it's not the greatest drawing but gives you an idea for what I saw.

Over the years, there were a couple other sightings of these craft, one in the New Jersey Pine Barrens and there was another that I can't recall but I've never experienced a quieter aircraft much less one that could seemingly hover and do pinpoint turns
at absurdly slow speeds.

Ok this is weird, I think I saw the same thing (but I didn't get as good of a look at angles and design). This was fall 1997 or 1998, and I was riding in a friend's car in the rural central NJ pine barrens, not too far from McGuire AFB. I saw some lights hovering, green and red on the wingtips, with the fuselage partially lit - kinda like the engines of a passenger aircraft might be at takeoff. But it was a sleek airframe, bulky but aerodynamic. And it was creepy silent, maybe a half mile away and altitude of 500 feet or less - I couldn't hear a damn thing. Just some Christmas lights hanging in the sky, with what almost looked more like a small spotlight on the aircraft just barely illuminating parts of it. We kept losing it in the trees because of the angle and how low it was - only saw it through clearings, or when the road straightened out. It was weird because I thought it was a helicopter but very far off at first - because it just hung there in the night, but no sound - I figured it was too far away. But as we got a better look it was clearly a lot closer, and just creepy silent. And it seemed too bulky to be a chopper from the little I could see. Then out of nowhere it rotated a bit, pointed away from us... and a massive flame just burst out the back. I'm guessing it was switching from VTOL to regular flight, and the pilot gunned the engine. But holy shit it was like a rocket launch. It was completely out of sight in seconds.

Cannon is home to the 27th Special Operations Wing (C 130s, MV-22s), Kirtland the 58th Special Operations Wing (Same), and McChord the 62nd Airlift Wing, Air Mobility Command (C-17s). Cannon and especially Kirtland have big hangers removed from everybody else (check out Kirtland on a map). Check out the secure facility with separate parking lot, giant hanger, etc., at Kirtland to the southeast of the runway.
