China’s new big naval gun

It is intended for coastal bombardment during the invasion of Taiwan, not for anti-ship purposes.
 
Did anyone spot anything resembling a doppler radar to track final muzzle velocity? Velocimeters have been around for over 80 years.

Maybe it would be on the ship in an obscured radome.
Maybe it’d be elsewhere.
 
The Chinese remembered to put velocimeter radars on their howitzers and naval guns, a short Google can affirm this, guys.

Coincidentally, their railgun testbed didn’t have a speed radar. But then we’ve only seen a bare mount for this new gun, the full mount has tarps all over it. No need to jump to conclusions.
 
This project is proceeding quite steadily. The issue has never been whether it is real or not, but which ship it should be placed on. Putting it on the 055 is indeed reasonable. However, it is very likely that entirely new warships will appear. Of course, at present, it will not be unveiled, because the 055 is already advanced enough, but the latest railguns, microwave weapons, laser weapons, and larger missile launchers suggest that the 055 may not be the best platform for these weapons. According to Chinese theory, it would not be a battleship or a cruiser, but a super-capable warship, a type of vessel classified by the amount of energy the hull platform can generate and the degree to which that energy can be converted into combat power centered on electromagnetic force.

Therefore, we may one day see a nuclear-powered warship with a displacement of twenty thousand tons appear in the future.

Nuclear turboelectric power not required for this.

A properly designed IEP system would also work.

Mainly, I personally feel that in the future, the power consumption of warships will increase even more, and because of the upgrades in weapons and equipment, the hulls will also get bigger. By then, nuclear power will be a pretty good option.

I disagree, because of how expensive operating a naval nuclear power program gets.

But that's an argument for a separate thread, I think.

I personally feel we might see them on the next batch of Type 055 destroyers.
