I’m having accessing naval news, but they have an article about China building a new super battleship.
From the image I saw in the thumbnail it looks like the hull is surprisingly far along already.

Is that the one with the Enterprise PU arrangement?

They turned China's under-construction Type 004 aircraft carrier into a battleship. It was just an April Fool's joke; no one would build a 100,000-ton battleship, right?
on the other hand, wow than carrier has come incredibly far in such a short amount of time.

Maybe Xi Jinping will suffer an acute case of gun-envy and try to one-up the Japanese by ordering the construction of a super-Yamato battleship;):D.

I'm sure the Chinese are currently building a version of the Trump battleship just like they have been copying everything else. Go public with some sort of concept from anyone, anywhere and they will build it, may or may not work but they will build it.

That sounds more like something a U.S. president would do. :p
Anyway, back to the topic, battleships are outdated now, and the logic of naval warfare has changed. I don't think we'll see battleships like that in the future. Of course, future warships will probably get bigger because they'll have more demands, but that's a different story. The real battleships, in the true sense, have already disappeared into the river of history over time.

The Chinese look at what works elsewhere, evaluate it, adapt it and implement some form of domestic version. At least that used to be their modus operandi like a decade ago. Nowadays, especially in the realms of missile technology, semiconductors, battery technology and energy storage, drone technology and most importantly shipbuilding and design they're the global leading force.

They most likely looked at what Trump spouted, laughed for a minute, contemplated how large UUVs would tear into it and ultimately let their mind come back to look how to expand the construction of their destroyers, carriers and submarines even though it's already ahead of anyone else with regards to capacity.

You really stand by the Chinese do not copy anything moniker, amazing.

Honestly, if China really wanted to build a Trump-class battleship, all you would need to do is double the size of the Type 055, switch to nuclear power, and install the LY-1 'Hurricane' system from the parade. Even if the missile vertical launch system remains the same, this warship could still fire the YJ17, YJ19, and YJ20 hypersonic missiles. On paper, the data would look impressive, but the PLA Navy would probably have no interest in a ship with no technological advancement.
